Chrysler is considering a new Dodge Viper in 2012 with a next generation design just as it is planning to discontinue the model in July of this year.
It seems like a contradiction, but Chrysler Group design chief Ralph Gilles said that the Viper will be seen by many kids around the world as the play their auto-related video games which feature the Dodge Viper.
Gilles discussed the Viper at the Chicago Economic Club in conjunction with the Chicago Auto Show. He showed sketches of what the next generation Viper might look like as well as drawings and pictures of the New Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Dodge Durango, the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger. The Cherokee and the Charger are due out this year.
The company would also like to develop a family of midsize sedans, hatchbacks and crossovers to be used by Fiat and Chrysler.
Gilles explained the market includes a millennial generation who will be buying smaller cars. To reach out to this segment, Gilles said that he has hired a number of designers who are in their early twenties to work on future models.
Chrysler has also launched a new incentive program in which customers who buy a new minivan has within 60 days to return it if not satisfied. The company noted that the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country have been bought by more customers than any other minivan and the new incentive will assist in showing new customers why.
The Dodge Ram is Chrysler’s top selling vehicle followed by the company’s minivans.
Finally, the Chrysler Town and Country has won owner loyalty awards in the minivan category from R.L. Polk for nine consecutive years.
Dodge minivans have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $23,995 and the high end Chrysler Town & Country has a sticker price of $26,745.
