2010 Acura TSX – In My Opinion

2010 Acura Tsx V6 Rear Right

I stated, in my review of the 2010 Acura TL, that it’s a nice compromise between for those who like sporty, yet luxurious, vehicles. The TSX, though, definitely takes sides.
The TSX is the “sportster” of the Acura sedan lineup, and the new V-6 engine adds to that impression. True, it’s not as rev happy as the less expensive inline four, but it more than makes up with the near eighty extra horsepower and torque. I especially loved how the TSX hugged the curves while going up mountain roads. Bypassing the omnipresent large SUV and commercial trucks quickly was never a problem in such situations. You want to fling the TSX at curves.
And the seats struck the right balance of support and comfort.

One issue I had with the prior generation TSX was that it felt too small. That issue was nicely remedied in the latest model, which is three inches wider and nearly half that longer than the older model. Interior material has also gone up a notch from the previous incarnation as well. The TSX, finally, feels closer to its luxurious siblings than the Honda lineup. Sole exception may be the doors, which seemed to clang more than chunk like most premium vehicles. But that’s a minor quibble.

The TSX had the simplest, least confusing, layout for its infotainment system. This, again, reinforced the car’s driver-oriented focus. Yet the tech package covered all major options: satellite radio, Bluetooth, navigation, etc. I especially liked the placement of the navigation screen.

So what’s my opinion of the TSX V-6? With the tech package, the near $38,000 price tag may seem a bit pricey for what may be considered an entry level car. But it’s not when you consider the TSX as an alternative to the TL. Both are aimed at different customers, with one towards a more sporty drive while the other is a cruiser. It’s all a matter of taste.
