One of the interesting features of the MDX is its comfort setting. With it, drivers can adjust how well the SUV absorbs road imperfections and thus their comfort level. I inadvertantly discovered the feature as I was returning via the highway to the Automotive.com offices. I was thinking how the MDX seemed to bob a bit much for an Acura especially equipped with Super-Handling Allwheel Drive, or SH-AWD. Disengaging the feature provided a more solid drive. I detected little difference, though, on regular streets. A lot of this smoothness can be attributed to the MDX’s new six-speed gear box which felt so seamless I felt little inclination to play with the manual mode and paddle shifters. I averaged around 20 mpg with the MDX, an excellent range for such a large SUV.
