The Nissan Rogue crossover has been in development for about four years and is expected to show up at Nissan dealerships in October.
Will it make inroads on the popularity of the Toyota RAV4 or Honda CR-V? Nissan hopes so. Two trims for the Rogue are to be introduced — an entry level version and a more upscale incarnation.
The entry level called the S Class will include two models — a standard front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive and the upscale version. The upscale SL will also be available with 2-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive. Both powered by a four-cylinder engine and also feature Nissan’s Xtronic continuously variable transmission, electric power steering, computer-assisted vehicle dynamic control, and traction control.
The upscale Rogue includes leather seats and power controls and is supposed to be very roomy and very comfortable. The entry level model sports two color cloth seats and, of course, fewer gadgets. Yet both models have a large center console and huge glove box.
Option packages are available for all models.
More details can be found at Business Week. Our take? We guess time will tell. But perhaps that’s why Nissan has named it the Rogue.
