Don Hammonds of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette details some of the changes for 2007 increasingly popular sedans. For 2007, the LaCrosse, which debuted in 2005, gets several new exterior colors for consumers to choose from: Midnight Amethyst, Midnight Blue Metallic, Red jewel Metallic, and Stone Grey Metallic. The interior is updated with more sportier dash graphics and lights, updated steering wheel, and choice of cloth seat fabrics colors. Engine choices continue to be General Motors’ tried and true 3.8-liter V-6 that generates 200 horsepower V-6 or the new 3.6-liter V-6 for 240 horsepower that’s found with the CXS trim. Details on a “LaCrosse Super” have still not yet been released.

Because the Lucerne debuted in 2006, there are even fewer changes for 2007. The new Lucerne gets updated with a GPS/DVD navigation system (in addition to OnStar Turn-By-Turn navigation), heated steering wheel, and new exterior and interior colors. Engines continue to be the 3.8-liter V-6 and a 4.6-liter V-8.

Our take? Buick has quietly been rising in popularity among those looking for all-American luxury without paying luxury brand prices. Will either the LaCrosse or, especially, the Lucerne, convince import-buyers to make the switch? Only time will tell, especially once the Buick Enclave SUV/CUV (pictured below) gets the green-light for production.
