Volvo C30 and Canada's Favorite Son

Volvo returned to the Montreal Auto Show for the first time in two years and showcased its new C30 which had been designed by Canadian Simon Lamarre.

Lamarre was no doubt the pride of Montreal at the show. He has worked for Volvo since 1995 when he joined from a stint with Saab. He was specifically asked by the company to come up with the C30 after the success of its Safety Concept Car at the 2001 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

He is now the studio chief designer for the C30.

Details on the C30 can be found at the link. Our take? Was it a coincidence that the C30 was designed by native Simon Lamarre? Actually Volvo admitted it was the C30 that prompted the return but Volvo sales, which has dropped 15 percent in Canada last year, may have also contributed.
