Mazda CX-9 Goes On Sale in February

The Mazda CX-9, the automaker's largest SUV, will be in showrooms and on sale just in time for that Valentine’s Day present.

The seven-seater competes against the full-sized Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander and, to a lesser extent, the new Toyota RAV-4 and GMC Acadia. With a starting price of $26,032, it is one of the most expensive—and largest—vehicles the company has produced for the U.S. market. A powerful 3.5 liter V6 engine can launch the CX-9 from 0 to 60 in 9 seconds and can travel around 19 mpg.

Our take? Mazda seems poised to make 2007 another breathtaking year for the company.

Just test drove CX-9. Dumbfounded by design of 3rd row seating. When folded forward, 4" gap remains across entire cargo area between it and rear of second row. I wish Mazda would redesign so get flat, continuous surface in cargo area when seats folded down. I can foresee items falling down in there. Saturn got it right with their new Outlook.

thanks for your input, jrcosmo. we'll check it out, too, when it arrives in our fleet. or at the next autoshow. (whichever comes first.)
