Remember when Paul McCartney sang, "Baby, you can drive my car." Well, the question now is what baby is it? Paul McCartney's signature edition RX400h Lexus hybrid SUV was sold at auction.
Lexus made the SUV and promoted it together with McCartney as part of his U.S. tour. It was then donated to one of McCartney's favorite charities -- Adopt a Minefield as a fund raiser -- and then went on for auction.
The exterior follows a graphic theme based on McCartney's Hofner bass guitar and VOX AC30 amplifier. The interior showcases VOX amplifier fabric and McCartney's signature stitched in the back of the front seats and in the door. The shifter knob mimics a Shure microphone with pearl inlay on the console matching the guitar and special badge celebrating the vehicle.
Our take? We think Sir Paul also sang about his weeping guitar. The proud owner of this Lexus won't be weeping unless it's because the price of the car was far more than he or she expected.
