Motor Trend posted an article on probably one of the most anticipated vehicles for 2007: the replacement to the Jaguar S-Type.
As previously posted here on Automotive.com, the new sedan has been named the XF or, more officially, the C-XF (the “C” stands for Concept). Following its XK coupe/convertible sibling, the C-XF has dropped the pseudo-1960s styling and embraced soon-to-be sold Aston Martin makeup. Sheetmetal changes include less curves, more lines, and flatter, sleeker, paneling. Real wood in the cockpit, as part of the Jaguar lineage as scandals are to Hollywood, has been ditched in the concept. Instead, modern brushed aluminium “sportifies” the interior.
Information on what engine will move this new cat is still pending. The Jaguar C-XF will debut at the Detroit Auto Show this month before going on sale in 2008.
Our take? We’ve always had a soft spot for the S-Type and Jaguar in general. However, we apparently are one of the few as sales of the cat have trailed its German, Japanese, and even American (i.e., Cadillac) competitors. Will the new C-XF finally give claws to this kitty? Or will German wolves finally run it down?
