Don't expect to see another diesel from Volkswagen until January, 2008.
The company is currently delivering the last of the 2006 Jetta diesels (pictured) to dealers, who are expected to run out of them by March, 2007, according to AutoWeek.
The new Volkswagen diesel Jetta TDI will have a new 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine and an all new common-rail, high pressure fuel injection system. The cars are not expected to reach dealers in volume until spring 2008. Until then, the more expensive Mercedes-Benz E320 will be the only diesel car available in the United States through 2007.
Our take? Unless you have to have a diesel VW right now, we recommend you wait.
