BBC Top Gear Magazine has awarded the title of "SUV of the Year" to the new Land Rover Freelander 2.

This is the first time the SUV has won international acclaim. Top Gear is published in 14 countries including India, China, Greece, and across central Europe. The SUV, first unveiled in England at the British International Motor Show in London earlier this year, has already sold 1,500 models. Prices range from from £20,935 ($40,854) to £33,990 ($66,331). According to editors of the magazine, the Freelander 2 won simply by able to haul their staff and their gear through various off-road shoots. TG magazine editor Michael Harvey stated it performed flawlessly in its capacity as one of the few, true, luxury off-road SUVs.

Our take? While we have issues taking such an expensive vehicle off-road (why not take something cheaper?), we don't have issues with the Land Rover's prowess which continues to match the Jeep in such capacity.
