A souped up Porsche 997 is Mission 400 PLUS' entry as it sets out to win the Blue Ribbon for the World's Fastest Street-Legal Sports Car next year.

The idea to go after the world record was first conceived earlier this year after the H&R-sponsored Alzen Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 suffered an accident during the second lap of the Six-Hour Race on the Nuburgring.

The prototype of the Mission 400 Plus Porsche was unveiled at the ESSEN-MOTOR-SHOW 2006.. The 997 was developed through a collaboration with H&R, Jurgen Alzen Motorsport and engine tuner RS Tuning. Technicians from Jurgen Alzen Motorsport in Betzdorf, Germany did the technical design and built the car while the engine was handled by RS Tuning.

Full details of the car, such as its over 1,000 horsepower engine, can be found at the link. The 997 will compete in Nardo in the first half of 2007 with Jurgen Alzen himself doing the driving.
