Being on the cutting edge, of being relevant to today’s increasingly sophisticate car buyer, is a constant headache for automakers. This is especially true for the luxury brands which see many of their once unique technologies, like climate control or GPS, increasingly becoming common in more mundane vehicles.

High-end automakers, thus, are increasingly turning to technology to separate themselves from their exclusive pack. Forbes listed the ten most technologically advanced or interesting cars available today. They include:

  • Acura RDX SUV – Turbo lag? None. Unique all-wheel drive? Check.
  • Audi R8 Coupe – AWD? Aluminium body? Lambo engine? Check.
  • BMW Hydrogen 7 sedan – Powered by hydrogen and gasoline? Check.
  • BMW M6 convertible – 400 to 500 horsepower at the touch of a button? Check.
  • Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Coupe – 0 to 60 mph under 2.5 seconds. Enough said.
  • Lexus LS Hybrid sedan – What feature doesn’t it have? (pictured)
  • Mercedes-Benz E320 BlueTec Sedan – Its diesel technology should be on every car.
  • Mercedes-Benz S600 Sedan – Self-driving. Finally.
  • Porsche 911 Turbo coupe – 480 horsepower. Enough said.
  • Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Convertible – Seats that don’t get wet.

Our take? It will be interesting to see what features eventually trickle down from the above cars to our Chevys, Fords, and Hondas. Personally, we can’t wait to try out the 279 settings on the M6.
