Motor Trend reports that the Honda Accord will be facing continuing competition from Toyota’s new Camry which is picking up sales from disenchanted sports utility buyers. The Honda Accord also faces increased competition from an updated Nissan Altima, Saturn Aura, and Kia Optima.
As a result, said Motor Trend, the next Accord is critical for Honda. So, in response, styling of the 2008 Honda Accord will show some of the Civic design.
It will have a wider stance and wider wheels. The car is supposed to be larger overall than the current Accord and the model range will include a new coupe.
The Honda Accord hybrid is also facing competition from the Camry and more competition is expected from the Altima and Aura hybrids in 2007. However, Motor Trend noted that Honda recently announced it would introduce a new fuel efficient clean diesel to the United States by 2009.
