Zoom, zoom, zoom, may not be the sole property of a well known car manufacturer when they describe the thrill of driving their cars. The new Acura MDX for 2007 also goes on that zoom rating.

Reported to be the first notable redesign since 2001, the vehicle, which is longer, wider and a little bit lower than the previous version, shows a new shield shaped solid grille, massive wheel flares, and aerodynamics not seen on this model before.

The massive size is expressed by the width of the front bumper spats and compact fog lights mounted low and wide to the body gives it additional style.

The interior of the vehicle sports black wood trim along the dash and interior patterned after Hawaiian koa wood.

Comfort for the driver’s ergonomics was not ignored. The navigation screen is mounted high and is easy to read and the instrument panel is broken up into four sections with plenty of backlighting with a sensor to adjust the lighting for real time ambiance. And there is plenty of storage nooks and copy holes.

Luxury goodies include a power operated tailgate, three zone climate control, Satellite Radio, and MP3 jack. There’s even a 110 volt outlet on the console if you want to use an electronics product from your home and a humidity sensor in the climate control that prevents windshield fog from forming. There is a
dual mode suspension with Magnetic Resonance dampers to control the suspension stiffness by changing the intensity of the magnetic field and the standard Vehicle Stability Assist is onboard to reduce the tendency to oversteer then shut down on slippery roads. And the MDX is powered by a new 3.7 liter V6 engine.

The 300 horsepower it generates is a 47 horse power improvement over last year’s model. Also featured are an Acura VTEC variable valve time, dual stage intake runner and electronic throttle control.

And this vehicle even appeals to the hard hat guy lurking quietly inside you for it also can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

The Acura MDX for 2007 has a starting price of $39,995 and goes up to $43,495 with the Technology Package, improved sound system, rearview camera and navigation system. A fully loaded MDX with DVD entertainment system, power tailgate and heated second row seats will top off at $50,000.
