Automobile Magazine Takes on Dodge Caliber; VW GTI; and Fit

One of the bloggers over at Automobile magazine posted their impressions on three new SUV-esque cars: the Dodge Caliber R/T all-wheel drive; the Volkswagen GTI; and the Honda Fit Sport.

Baggyparagraphs find the Caliber’s combined small SUV/car utility and low price a no-brainer if having to choose between it and a regular car and more “traditional” vehicles. The GTI was the best ride of the three. However, those who dislike choppy rides and too-tight seating may want to reconsider this Cooper S rival. And while the Fit was a joy to park, the quality—from the rattling dash to the poor lighting in the cargo section—added to the already weak engine.

Our take? Scrape up the extra money, drop all longings for German products, and get the Caliber R/T. (And yes, we’re aware that Dodge is owned by DaimlerChrysler.) It won’t look like a toy like the Fit when you hit the club scene while won’t cost you a pretty penny when getting an oil change.
