Imports dominate the top vehicles which includes the Toyota Prius, MINI Cooper, and Acura TSX. Reliabity plays a big role in these vehicle’s high ratings though limited production (e.g., BMW M3, 6-Series) play a role as well.

The top ten include:

  1. Toyota Prius
  2. Mini Cooper
  3. Scion xB
  4. BMW M3
  5. Lexus RX
  6. BMW 6-Series
  7. Lexus GX
  8. Acura TSX
  9. Scion xA
  10. Honda Civic & Civic Hybrid

The bottom rung is dominated by domestic vehicles with many relying on old designs and/or chassis. Several, such as the Buick Rendevous, as scheduled to be phased out as either a cost cutting measure or most likely with a replacement on the horizon.

The bottom ten include:

  1. Ford Freestar
  2. Ford Crown Victoria
  3. Buick Rainier
  4. Lincoln Town Car
  5. Dodge Caravan/Grand Caravan
  6. Mercury Grand Marquis
  7. GMC Envoy
  8. Ford Explorer
  9. Buick Rendezvous
  10. Chrysler Town & Country
Our take? Interestingly, the bottom 10 vehicles reflects the change in Americans’ taste as more consumers switch from either smaller cars, crossovers, or SUVs. Bargain hunters should consider the lower rungs since even CR admits there’s nothing technically wrong with the cars. The Explorer, especially, has been refreshed and packed with plenty of features.
