Because c/net is focused on technology, the editors did an extensive review of the navigation system and the crossover’s other technological gimmicks. They found the navigation to be functional, with excellent resolution and ease-of-use. The LCD screen, though, turned out to be on the small side.
The editors also liked the plethora of controls on the steering wheel, which included controls to set temperature as well as fan speed.
The Edge is moved by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with an output of 263 horsepower. C/net found it adequate for moving the over two-ton SUV though it whined loudly when pushed. Fuel economy is 17 mpg in the city, 24 mpg in highway driving which is comparable in the Edge’s segment.
More details can be found at the link. Our take is that the Edge is the edge that Ford desperately needs as buyers shun its once-immensely popular Explorer.
