If you were one of those buyers ready to pounce on a Ford Edge or, even better, the Lincoln MKX (can you tell we’re biased?), at month’s end, you’re going to have to wait just a little bit longer.
Ford Motor Co. has notified its dealers that they will be receiving the new SUVs around mid-December instead of late November. Apparently the causes include supplier issues and delays on the assembly line.
The press reports there are some grumblings with the delay. However, most experts agree the issues are not with the vehicles themselves but manufacturing, which is understandable given the newest of the vehicles. Rival Toyota, for example, delayed the delivery of the Lexus RX 400h by two months to make sure the SUV was up to its standards.
Our take? We’d rather wait on the right product than get something earlier that’s half-baked.
