The autosphere is abuzzed with shots of what appear to be a Nissan Altima coupe.

The Altima first rolled off the production line in 1992 as a 1993 model where it replaced the Stanza. Until now, all versions of the Altima sold in the U.S. have been four-door sedans. Currently, the Nissan 350Z is the only car in Nissan’s lineup that is available as a two-door though that may change with the upcoming GT-R.

So are the pictures for real? There has been speculation for some time that Nissan has had plans for an Altima coupe but never any official word. We pulled up a shot of the 2004 G35 coupe and found the similarity remarkable and hazard to guess the mystery vehicle could be based on the Infiniti’s platform. Otherwise, we continue to await more substantial information.

That thing is sweet. Totally looks like a G35 from a distance. Make mine a 3.5 SE 6-speed. :-D If they price it right, they've got a sure hit on their hands.

Don't think it's a GT-R. Not "beefy" enough. From the concept drawings and show cars I've seen, the GT-R is going to be one mean-looking mother. But very handsome nonetheless. This thing will most definitely put the smackdown on the Solara. B-)
