Hyundai Motor Co. reports that it will be debuting its newest SUV, the Veracruz, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan in January.
The Veracruz is the Korean automaker’s third SUV, following the newly revamped Santa Fe and all-new Tucson. It will be bigger than both its older siblings, though, with third-row seating and greater interior space than the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class SUV.
The Veracruz will be most likely powered by a 3.8-liter V-6 engine and carry a full complement of airbags and other safety devices. Other details, especially pricing, will be announced shortly after the debut.
Our take? Hyundai is really on the roll. We're getting a little, concerned, that the automaker may be moving a little too fast. Toyota, which the company claims to be its benchmark, has recently suffered a string of small but numerous quality issues which many analysts attribute to its rapid growth. Could Hyundai be setting itself for such a similar situation?
