If you think that it’s too early for Nissan to be taking the next-generation Skyline GT-R out for a few fast laps, you’d be wrong.
Nissan Motor Co. had the supercar tearing up the road out in Nuburgring, Germany recently. The spied model’s design closely resembles the styling of the GT-R prototype revealed at the 2005 Tokyo show. Nissan, unfortunately, continues to keep the mechanical details under the radar but reports claim that it will have a twin turbocharged 3.5 liter V6 engine pumping out 450 horsepower.
Rumors still continue about the new Skyline wearing an Infiniti badge. Nissan CEO himself Carlos Ghosn, though, has clarified that the GT-R will keep the Nissan badge no matter what country or market. Our take is that this is a good move on Nissan’s part because the car has such a huge underground following.
Nissan will show a near-production GT-R version at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show in November. The car goes into production in the fall of 2007 as a 2008 model.
