Is 2008 Toyota Corolla To Be Hatched?

Though Toyota Motor Corp. has not yet made an official announcement, the Toyota Auris Space Concept, which debuted at last month’s Paris Motor Show, is believed to be the shape of the future Corolla.

The 2007 Toyota Corolla has already gone on sale in Japan according to Left Lane News. The Axio is the sedan while Fielder is a station wagon. The production version of the Auris hatchback has not yet been seen or acknowledged if it’ll even be produced for the U.S. market. Auto Express reports one feature, a green light that turns on when the driver is driving economically, may be included in the Auris.

Our take? While Toyota continues to manufacture Corolla hatchbacks and station wagons worldwide, neither chassis has been exported to the U.S, market for years. Timing may be excellent for Toyota due to gas prices and Americans’ growing acceptance of the two body styles. However, the automaker better move quickly and its major competitors, Honda and Nissan, have already released the new Civic and Sentra, the Corolla’s major competitors.

So are they going to call the hatch the Matrix in the U.S.? And what's with that ugly freakin' nose? No thanks! I'll take my Mazda3. :-)

I think Japanese is comin' into style in the U.S. Look at the xA and xB, for example. You'd never seen those come out of Europe or Detroit.
