Two rare convertible Dodge Firearrow concept cars will be put up for auction at Barret-Jackson next year. These eye-catching concept cars are #2 and #4 of the four built in 1953 and 1954. The cars were never intended to make it to production and were simply built to spark public interest in the Dodge brand.
The Firearrow II is a yellow roadster while the Firearrow IV is a black convertible with roll up windows, folding top, and jump seat. Both were designed by automotive legend Virgil Exner and are currently owned by Sam Mann. The cars have proved popular in the concourse circuit and have been honored numerous times.
Key design ideas from the concepts were later licensed to Ghia to make the Dual Ghia, which was popular among celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Desi Arnez, and even Ronald Reagan (whom lost his vehicle to Lyndon B. Johnson in a poker game).
The Barret-Jackson auction boasts a no reserve policy, and will be held January 13-21 2007, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Last year, over a 100 cars were auctioned and brought in over $135 million.
Our take? It will be interesting to see how much these cars go for, with the popularity of classic cars rising in the past couple of years and prices skyrocketing. We can see these cars going for at least half a million each at the low end with the sky the limit for the high end.
