Last week the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) ruled that all new vehicles must display crash-test scores on their window stickers.
Vehicles affected include all 2008 cars, mini-vans, and SUVs. Automakers have until September 1st, 2008 to comply to the ruling. Trucks were excluded since federal law does not require such vehicles to display window stickers.
Though two organizations, the NHTSA and the private Institute for Highway Safety, administer crash tests, only the former are required to provide the information on the stickers. Honda Motor Co. already displays crash test rates on its vehicles.
Our take? Trucks are definitely a sore emission and need to be added to the law immediately.
