In a move that’s surely going to raise some ruffles if not outright battles, Assemblyman Paul Koretz, D-West Hollywood, has introduced Assembly Bill (AB) 379 which would prohibit smoking in any vehicle with when a passenger is 6 years old or younger or weighs less than 60 pounds. Fines would start at $100 and can rise up to $350 after assessment. Note the bill does not consider if the vehicle windows are open.

I couldn't agree more. I always wonder what's going through parent's minds when I see them cruising the freeways, hot-boxing their minivan w/Jr. and Sis in the back seats.

I like this idea as well, I think it should be pushed even a little further so the kids are older/bigger.

Sounds fair to me. Funny thing though, will cops start carrying scales on their cars so they can verify if the child is under 60lbs?
